Juvéderm, Restylane and other hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, the enzyme your body already uses to break down hyaluronic acid. Small amounts fix a lump; larger amounts clear an area completely so it can be refilled correctly.
At Serene Med Spa in Hudson, our physicians see two kinds of patients for dissolving: those correcting work done elsewhere — migrated lip filler, puffy under-eyes, uneven cheeks — and long-term filler patients whose product has accumulated over the years and want a clean slate. After an assessment (and often ultrasound-guided mapping of where the filler sits), hyaluronidase is injected directly into the product. The area may look softer within hours and settles fully in 24–48 hours; swelling is common for a day or two. We wait about two weeks before refilling. Dissolving starts at $150 and depends on the amount of enzyme needed. Note that hyaluronidase cannot dissolve Radiesse, Sculptra or silicone, and it also dissolves some natural hyaluronic acid, which is why precise, physician placement matters.
